Prince Harry

The news organization that reported yesterday that Prince Harry was in Afghanistan should be charged with a crime. And their website should be taken off line. I have no problem with people breaking news that will put someone in jail, cost someone their job, or even embarrass someone for things they did. But when someone puts a news story out there that can cause someone their life, then I have a Big problem with it. Since these organizations are so eager to report the where abouts of certain individuals, why don't they go to the mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan and report on the where abouts of Osama Bin Laden, and jeopardize their own life? Instead they have to publish a report that all the major organizations refused or agreed not to report because of security reasons. Well I hope they get the guy out of there without any problems. And they should send whoever broke this report over there in his place.

Forgotten Websites

This post is based from another post that I read over at John Chow's blog. The guest author there tells us 7 reasons why people forget about your website. I would like to add a few more reasons why people forget about your website.
  • You cannot find the post, for the ads. I have been to many sites where you have more ads than you have space to put them.
  • You do not speak English yet you create a English reading site. I would have a better chance of understanding it if it was in your native language.
  • You talk about how psychologically unstable your are, believe me there are many many sites where people really enjoy telling people how much of a psycho they are.
  • You do not give credit where credit is due. Copying someone else's content or ideas without giving them credit is really tasteless.
  • You think everyone likes the same kind of music that you do. So you have music start playing when someone logs onto your site.

Be Yourself

It seems like everyday I come across a blog where someone is trying to imitate another blogger. They would rather be someone else than to be them self. Some people have a legitimate excuse for wanting to be someone else. If I was them I would want to be someone else also. But for the most, being yourself is better in the long run.

One of the best things about blogging is knowing that someone else is reading what you write. Bloggers write about how many readers they have everyday. But wouldn't you feel better about having those readers, if it was your own thoughts? You should. My goal is to have as many subscribers that I can get by just being myself. I will not pretend to be the extraordinary individual that some claim that they are.

So when you write your next post, write it like you see it. Do not put others ideas in it, or base it on what someone else said. Tell it the way you see it. The way I see it is like this. Everyone that reads this post should subscribe to my feed and refer ten more people to subscribe to it also. That way everyone will get a chance to read my point of view.

What the heck is blogging? Contest

Rose DesRochers is having a "What is blogging" contest on her blog. Take the time and check it out and leave her a post. You can win three month free advertising on Blogger Talk Blog Forum. Here is my response to what the heck is blogging?
Blogging is saying what you have to say without being interrupted. It is a passion that makes you want to let the whole world know what is inside you. It is an addiction that sometimes will keep you up all night wondering in that tiny little brain, of what to blog about next. It is a money maker, and a heart breaker. It can make you laugh and it can make you cry. You can make friends and enemies also. You can learn from others mistakes, or you can teach them about your own mistakes. I guess you could basically say, “Blogging is Cool”

Pre-Planning

After staying up till midnight est. waiting on the Nascar race to resume, I decided it was time to go to bed. One of things I always hate about having the flu is waking up soaking wet from sweating and then freezing my butt off while I change the bed linens. This time I was prepared, because at 4 this morning I woke up soaked. Before going to bed last night I made my bed twice. Also I had a change of clothes right beside the bed. It only took about 2 minutes for me to rip the wet linens off of the bed and to change clothes, then I was back in a nice dry bed. Oh, and after waiting all that time for them to restart the race, Nascar decided that they was going to postpone it till today.

Flu

What a night it was last night. My daughter and I both have come down with the flu. She is just getting over it, I just got it. Talk about not sleeping, my fever was 102 or higher for most of the night. Seemed no matter what I tried to do it would not go down. Finally around 7 this morning it finally went down enough where I could fall asleep for a couple of hours. Maybe tonight will be better.

Roger Clemens Photo's

There is rumor going around that Federal Investigators have photo's of Roger Clemens at the party hosted by Jose Canseco. The party that Clemens denied being at time after time again during the congressional hearings a few weeks ago. And according Clemens testimony, and the way he gave the testimony the photo's probably do exist.

The bad thing about this is that it would prove that Clemens was lying all along. Although there is much more evidence to already prove that, these photo's would contradict his most sincere lie. And a liar is really not worth the ground that they walk on. If he cannot be a man, tell the truth and stand up to what he did, then they should prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law. Time after time we hear and see these things happening where celebrities tie up congress, the court systems and the news media with their childish, cry baby actions. It is time that they start paying for these little escapades that they have.

Jose Canseco has long been tagged as the bad boy in baseball. But it seems now that Canseco is not that bad after all. At least he had the nerve to admit he done something. Well the Rocket ran out of fuel half way through his career and had to turn to illegal drugs to get him refueled. And it seems the Rocket is out of fuel again. All I can say is Crash and Burn Rocket, Crash and Burn.

Setting Goals

This week we are discussing "Goal Setting" in my academic strategies class. At the age of 41 you would think that I am to old to set goals. But that is not necessarily true.

Sometimes we get ourself into a situation where we do not look at the long term anymore. We go from day to day without having any idea what tomorrow may bring. Although we have no control over the future, we can plan for it. Or can we? To me that is a yes and no answer. Yes you can set long term goals for the future as long as your goals are about you. No you cannot set goals that are based on others. Although we may not want to admit it, we cannot control what anyone else does.

Many times I have seen people plan for a future that never happened. And many times these same people never get back to happiness. They end up settling in a hole somewhere and never living their dreams. So what can we do to prevent this from happening to us? One thing that we can do is make ourself valuable. Without value, we make ourself limited to things that we can do. So how do you make yourself valuable without having money? Education. By educating ourself on the things that we love and by making our minds worth something, we making ourself valuable.

Motivation is another key to long term goals and success in life. In order to educate yourself and to have success you have to make yourself go forward. It is so easy to give up on something and walk away. But if you keep yourself motivated, you will have better success and the rewards will be greater at the end.

Goals are important to us in life. It gives us a chance to work for something, and it gives us a chance to feel rewarded when we reach them. My grandfather was 94 years old when he passed away this past October. He never knew how to read or write. He once told me that when he came into this world, he owed no one and had no enemies. And when he left us, he owed no one and had no enemies. And everything he did in life was done with happiness. He worked on that goal all of his life. And was proud of his achievement. So no matter how old or how young you are, goals are still reachable and a good thing to have.

Win $500

Jim Karter at Jimkarter.com is giving away $500 to a lucky reader. All you have to do is subscribe to his feed via email or write a post linking to his site. According to the site the contest will last until around March 6th.

UNC Tarheels

If you follow college basketball, then you know who Roy Williams and coach K are. They are the coaches of the UNC Tarheels and the Duke Blue Devils. Well it seems that Coach K does not like the idea that Coach Williams releases his injury report and discusses it with the media. Seems that Coach Williams had a few choice words for him Monday on his radio show. "He can coach his own damn team" It is so nice to have two of the best college basketball programs of all time right next to me. As far as my opinion on this, way to go Coach Williams.

Email subscriptions

I have a list of about 20 blogs that I try to visit from time to time. At first I had them all book marked and would go to the page daily to see if it had been updated. Then I started to subscribe to the email subscription. That is so much easier than going back and forth to the web page. It gives me the luxury of seeing all the post that my favorite bloggers have made, all in one place. Plus, it saves me time. Also, I can easily forward it to anyone that I think would be interested, without having to open another application. All you have to do it take the time to subscribe.

Year Round Schools for kids?

This is a subject that gets a lot of attention here in North Carolina. And up until now I have not really thought about it. But being informed that my daughter will now have to attend year round school, I do not like it to much. When I was a child I really looked forward to my summer vacation. Not because I got to go places or things like that, but just because I did not have to go to school for a while. And even though most of my summers were spent working on my grandfathers farm, I still cherish the time that I had. But times have changed since I was a child.

The Wake county Government and the Wake county school systems are by far the worst planners and organizers in the country. They are not even close to having enough class rooms for students, they do not have enough schools for students, and they re-assign students to a different school every year. Next year my daughter will be in the second grade and will be attending her third different school in as many years, due to the re-assignment. There is not much anyone can do about it but complain, because the school system is so far behind in building new schools, that by the time they get caught up, (which they never will) she will have graduated by then.

Not only is the school system poor planners, the government of Wake County is the same. They build a city and advertise how great it is for living, then all of the sudden they have to many people there and not enough water. They try to blame it on dry weather conditions, but they have to go to water restrictions every year no matter how much rain is received.

No matter how you look at things, not having a summer vacation is not going to hurt me nor the Wake County School system. The only one that it will affect is my daughter. In my opinion she is going to miss a valuable part of her life. Sometimes it makes me wonder about how smart all these people are, that say they are well educated. One thing I am for sure about, the Wake County School System has no clue about what they are doing.

Northern Illinios Shootings

There are many things in this world that are frightening. One of them is the fact that no matter where you go, you are subject to some psycho acting like a moron and start shooting people. But what really bothers me about this is what people say "after" and let me say that again "after" they find out this person killed a bunch of people. It is always "they have not been taking their medication". Excuse me, but if someone is so psycho that they need medication to go through their day without killing someone, they need to be locked up somewhere in a straight jacket. According to the news agencies this guy had been kicked out of the Army because he was a psycho. Yet he was able to walk in a store, buy a gun, and take the lives of innocent victims.

I am not against gun ownership in America. I think every law abiding citizen that has not had a history of being a psycho should be able to own one. But something really has to be done to try and put a stop to some of these actions by irresponsible people that have no clue of what America is suppose to be. America is suppose to be a place where we can live in peace and be able to pursue our dreams of happiness. It is not suppose to be a place where we have to fear walking out the door, and where countless live are being taken everyday for no reason whatsoever. We are suppose to be the greatest country in the world. Yet we seem to have as many suicide killings as Iraq and other countries.

Maybe we need to start teaching a "How to be a psycho" class in America. We need to teach these psycho people that if they want to kill themselves, to go right ahead and do it. Just do not take the lives of other people with you. I have no pity in my heart for people that want to do that. If they do not want to live, so be it. But they should not ruin the lives of others because of their sickness as some doctors may say.

May God be with the families of the innocent victims of this tragedy and all of the others that have occurred in the recent months. And some how I hope that instead of letting these psycho people walk the streets, that doctors and law enforcement will be able to lock these people up in a padded room where they belong.

Time Management

This week we are studying time management, and ways to deal with stress, in my Academic Stratagies class. And Power Point presentations in my Software applications class.

Time management is something that has never really bothered me. Although it is of utmost importance when you are taking classes. In construction, time is always a factor, but the weather dictates the management part of it. Therefore, delays are not that uncommon. But in class, poor time managment can lead to a bad grade.

We have to make a to-do list and seperate our list according to priorities. It sounds very boring, but if you think about it, everyone waste time and lose track of what is important. It's not hard to do. What are the important things in life? What do we waste our time doing were we could be doing something more constuctive? What is going to be the price that we have to pay for not prioritizing things in our life? Its something everyone should think about at least once in a while.

Roger Clemens or John McNamee

Roger Clemens and John McNamee were both in Washington today testifying before the house oversight committee. What a waste of our tax money. There are a lot of things that really bother me about the process that has been going on, especially the Mitchell report.

1. Why would someone in their right mind write a 400 page report on hear say information?
2. Doesn't the law say that we all are innocent until proven guilty?
3. What crimes are involved? From what has been said, there is no physical evidence of anything.
4. From what all the news media is saying, everyone was taking steroids or some kind of
performance enhancing drug. So what is the big deal? All of them were on the same level.

It really does not matter who is telling the truth or who is lying. It is all big media circus anyway. The money that was spent on this report, and the money that it cost to have the hearings today could have been spent more wisely. The Government chose to spend millions of dollars on finding out if one person got shot in his butt with steroids, when they could have fed millions of homeless people with that money. The news media spent millions of dollars airing this circus when they could have been reporting on poverty in America. What is wrong with our Government? Their performance is what should be looked at, and their performance really need some kind of enhancement.

Office 2007

I just finished with my weekly seminar in my Software Applications class. I did not realize how much of a alien Word 2007 was till I downloaded it on to my computer. Lucky for me I have a textbook that goes into great detail on how to use it. I found my way around the 2003 version with no problem, but the new version is somewhat, if not totally different. One thing that really got me is, you cannot work on a 2007 word document in the 2003 or older version unless you specifically save it that way. Then trying to find the drop down menu to save it was a task in itself. Who would ever think that the menu would be behind the office emblem. Yes they did away with the old file menu. But all in all it seems to be working fine. One tip, if you do upgrade to the 2007 version, save the 2003 version on your computer as well. They both CAN be installed on the same hard drive. That way you will have your old reliable version, until you get familiar with the newer one.

North Carolina Tarheels

For as long as I can remember I have watched college basketball. And being a Tarheel fan I have had my share of celebrations. Some of the greatest players in the NBA, including whom I think is the greatest (Micheal Jordan) have played for the tarheels. A lot of great players have come and gone, but one thing stays the same. If you are going to be a Tarheel fan you better have a healthy heart. Watching them can cause enormous stress and create a desire to throw something at the TV. It can also cause you to be hateful and disrespectful to people who may call you on the phone during a game. Research has also shown that being a Tarheel fan gives you a urge to use inappropiate sign language while interacting with Duke fans. Other times it may give you the urge to point your finger at them and laugh, or maybe set something on fire in the middle of the street. Either way you look at it , it is great being a Tarheel fan. GO HEELS!!!!!

Blogsvertise

If you have read my blog, you should know that I am going back to school. I am doing this online, so I spend a great deal of time looking at the monitor here. I created this page mainly because I want to be able to share my experiences with others. Tonight I was browsing and came across a site that pays to you write reviews and also will advertise for you on the web. Blogsvertise is a great way to advertise and also a great way to make some extra money. Take a look at the site and see if you might be interested. All you have to do is have a Blog and sign up.

What a nice day!!!

It has been a fairly good day today. The wind has been sustained at about 30 MPH and gusting to about 40. But it has been warm so I cannot complain. The temp has been in the 60 and 70 degree range for the past two weeks. How can you not love North Carolina weather.

I have spent the most of my day creating and deleting files for my software applications class. Being fairly familiar with a computer, it was more like having fun, than doing an assignment. At least I did not have to spend the day out in the wind.

I will share my experiences with you on this blog, and hope that you will return and follow my progress. One good thing, I am not the only person that is going back to school that is over 40. WOW!!! I am getting old, seems like yesterday I was still in High School. Till next time.

A Good Bill

Looks like the Senate went ahead and passed the bill that will enable the IRS to send me a $600 check in the mail. I want to personally thank the President for introducing the bill, because I really need the money. I will probably have to use some of it to by motrin, to help with this headache I get from hearing about some guy named Obama and some woman named Hillary. All of the people running for President really do not have a clue about how to get votes. All they have to do it promise to double the 6 hundred next year and they will get my vote. But realistically this will probably be a year that I vote for Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse.

Welcome

Well for those of you that have wondered where the heck I have been. Don't feel bad so do I. It has been a long time since I have blogged about anything. And a lot of things have happened since the last time I have blogged also. So stick around and listen to me babble about them.
